Algorithmic Diva Bollero is an epic knitting pattern for a smart and talented knitter!
Stephanie is using algorithmic software to create simple knitting stitches (mostly a combination of purl and knit) and unorthodox shapes, thereby transcending an ancient technique into a digital age. By breaking usually repetitive knitting patterns into a set of charted non-repeats that give the piece an android, digital look, Stephanie is translating the soft, human, meditative craft of knitting into the realm of computational science and back: reducing it to a human scale, so that the knitting itself is simpler than it seems at the first sight! This allows us to see and enjoy our skill from the new perspective and to put knitting into a different context, somewhere between science, art and craft, in a new cyber-punk era.
